Request and Renew Books How to Request a Book:
|
|
| Find a book - - From the Library Web Page (www.nl.edu/library)
- Click on "Book Search."
- Click on "NLU BOOK CATALOG."
- Search for book(s) using the Basic or Advanced search tabs.

| Request the book - - Click on the title of the book you would like to request. (Make sure this copy is available or non-circulating material)
- Then click on "Request" button at the top of the page.
- Enter your NLU Library ID (19xxxxxxxx2840 x=your NLU Student ID minus the "N") and last name.
- Click "Login."
- Select "Request NLU's Copy" and click "OK."
- Enter your NLU Library ID again, select a Pick Up Location, and click "Submit Request."
- You should then see the message, "Your Patron Initiated Request was successful."

| Requesting Non-NLU Books - - If the book(s) you would like to request are not found in NLU Library Book Catalog, click on "Repeat search in ALL I-Share Libraries" (a link above the search area), or click on I-Share Libraries in the toolbar to begin a new search.
- If a copy of the book is available, click on "Request" at the top of the page.
- Select "National-Louis University" for your home library from the pull-down menu.
- Enter your NLU Library ID (19xxxxxxxx2840 x=your NLU Student ID minus the "N") and last name.
- Click "Login."
- Select "Request First Available Copy" and click "OK."
- Enter your NLU Library ID again, select a Pick Up Location, and click "Submit Request."
- You should then see the message, "Your Patron Initiated Request was successful."

| How to Renew a Book:

| - From the NLU Library home page (www.nl.edu/library), click on "Book Search."
- Then click on "My Account."
- Enter your NLU Library ID (19xxxxxxxx2840 x=your NLU Student ID minus the "N") and your last name.
- Click "Login."
- The first area will be "Items Checked Out" organized by the I-Share libraries including NLU.
- To renew a book, click in the box to the left and then select "Renew."
- Scroll down to the bottom of "Items Checked Out" and click on "Renew Selected Items."
- If the Renew box is not visible, it means your account is blocked (due to fines/fees, overdues, etc.) and you should contact the circulation department at 1-800-443-5522, ext. 5335.

| | How to Cancel a Request: |
|
| - Below "Items Checked Out" you will find "Request Information" and if you have outstanding requests it will say "Requests Pending."
- Click in the box to the left of the requested title to cancel that request.
