UNDERGRADUATE - TEACHER PREPARATION

Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education - Type 04 Certification [+]
Intended for students who want to teach children from birth to age eight.
Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Practice [+]
Work with children in child care centers or settings that do not require state certification (non-certification).
Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education - Type 03 Certification [+]
Designed for those who want to teach kindergarten through ninth grade.
Bachelor of Arts in Special Education - LBS I, Type 10 Certification [+]
Equips graduates to teach children with special education needs, including all preparation for attainment of the Illinois Learning Behavioral Specialist (LBS1, Type 10) certification.

NEW
A new and unique opportunity for practicing teachers to obtain a master's degree while gaining in-demand specializations as they progress through their program. Candidates choose endorsement preparation from two of four areas: ESL, ESL/Bilingual, Reading and Special Education.
M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision [+]
Improved to meet Illinois' new certification requirements, this program is designed for certified and experienced teachers who want to take on leadership roles, including principal positions, in K-12 educational settings. Choose from two tracks, Certification track or Education Leadership (non-certification) track plus qualify for a scholarship worth 20% of tuition costs.
M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction [+]
For educators who want to improve curriculum design, instructional effectiveness and learner achievement.
M.Ed. in Reading [+]
For teachers who are interested in further developing their teaching skills or meeting the eligibility requirement to be a Reading Teacher or Specialist. Teachers will earn their Reading endorsement upon completion of the Reading Teacher option.
M.Ed. in Special Education - LBS 1 Certification by Entitlement [+]
Prepares candidates for a variety of roles working with children and adolescents with exceptional learning needs.

One of only three programs in the Chicago area that is fully accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). Students graduate prepared for leadership roles in their districts, and are experienced in functional assessment and interventions that improve outcomes.

    Opened in the summer of 2006, NLU North Shore at Skokie is a state-of-the-art modern campus located just off the Edens Expressway near the Old Orchard Shopping Center.
