Middle Level Education (M.Ed., C.A.S.)

Program Description:

The NLU Master’s and Certificate of Advanced Study in Middle Level Education is designed for those of you who want to focus on the unique developmental characteristics of young adolescents and how to provide them with effective educational instruction.

How You Will Learn:

Middle Level Education is taught using a cohort model, which means you will go through the program with the same group of 12-20 students. NLU graduates like the cohort model because of the support and friendships provided by their fellow students throughout the program.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to develop best educational practices to meet the developmental needs of young adolescents.
  • A broad understanding of the impact of family and community on adolescent development.
  • How to assess and evaluate teaching techniques.
  • A broad understanding of the impact of legal and ethical issues on cultural diversity.

Where You Can Take the Program:

At NLU’s campuses in Chicago, Elgin, Lisle, Skokie (North Shore) and Wheeling.
