Leadership in Curriculum & Teaching (Ed.S.)

Program Description:

The NLU graduate program in Leadership in Curriculum and Teaching is designed for those of you who are classroom teachers and who want to assume leadership roles in program, curriculum and staff development.

How You Will Learn:

Leadership in Curriculum and Teaching is taught using a cohort model, which means you will go through the program with the same group of 12-20 students.  NLU graduates report that they like the cohort model because of the support and friendships provided by fellow students throughout the program. These programs are also offered online, in a blended format of online and classroom instruction, and in a traditional classroom setting.

What You Will Learn:

  • How to conduct action research in your own classroom or community setting.
  • How to develop a classroom community and effective learning environment.
  • How to examine and improve your own teaching by conducting research in your classroom.
  • How to think critically and analytically about the social and political contexts of education.
  • How to incorporate the complexities of diversity in our culture and our classrooms into the learning community.
  • How to act as an agent for positive change.
