Frequently Asked Questions

- What do I need to apply to the doctoral programs at NLU?
- You will be evaluated on your academic record, professional experience, letters of reference, GRE scores and an interview.
- Can I transfer prior post master's course credit?
- NLU may accept up to 12 semester hours of credit from NLU or an approved accredited graduate institution.
- How often will I have to attend class?
- In the cohort model, you will meet at three residential summer programs (two weeks each summer) and one weekend for each of 8 months. At all other times, assignments and coursework will be conducted online.
- How long is the program?
- The program is three years in length, with dissertation.
- What is a cohort?
- Cohorts consist of a group of 20 or less students who progress through the same program. Cohorts encourage group interaction and enhance the learning experience.
