A Reputation of Excellence in Graduate Teacher Education
Since 1886, experienced educators have been referring up-and-coming teachers, principals and superintendents, school psychologists and other professionals to the graduate programs, at the National College of Education (NCE) at NLU. NCE faculty know what you need to move ahead in your career as a professional educator—and how to help you be successful. Veterans in the field of education say that NCE graduate students "hit the ground running" when they get their master's degree because they are immediately able to apply what they learned—and they are prepared for real-world challenges facing today's educational systems.
Get your doctoral degree in education from NLU—and immediately be recognized by your peers and colleagues as a leading voice in areas ranging from curriculum and instruction to reading.
A History of Innovation
Kindergarten. Elementary Education. Head Start. The PTA.
Our university began by changing the way America learns. When Elizabeth Harrison, our founder, launched what became the National College of Education in 1886, she revolutionized how our country trained professional educators—and taught our children how to learn. Educational innovation such as teaching kindergarten and providing bachelor's degrees for elementary teachers as well as the foundations of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and Head Start program all started at NCE.
