A Reputation for Excellence in Education
If you want to be a teacher, you've come to the right university. Since 1886, the National College of Education at National-Louis University has been the place to be for those who want to be early childhood, elementary and secondary school educators. NLU teachers, principals, superintendents and educational advocates have a well-deserved reputation for challenging themselves and their school districts to make a difference in the lives of the students they teach—and bringing the best educational practices into today's classroom.
A History of Innovation
If a career in education is in your future, the National College of Education at NLU is the place to start. After all, it is the place where many of today's most successful and enduring educational programs began.
Kindergarten. Elementary Education. Head Start. The PTA.
Our university began by changing the way America learns. When Elizabeth Harrison, our founder, launched what became the National College of Education in 1886, she revolutionized how our country trained professional educators—and taught our children how to learn. Educational innovation such as teaching kindergarten and providing bachelor's degrees for elementary teachers as well as the foundations of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and Head Start program all started at NCE.
