Bachelor of Science in Management

NATIONAL-LOUIS UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR of SCIENCE in MANAGEMENT (BSM)

The Bachelor of Science in Management (BSM) program is a non-traditional, accelerated, experience-based, web-enhanced undergraduate program for working adults. Designed for current managers or professionals who take on management functions, the program is relevant to individuals in the for-profit, not-for-profit, and government sectors.

NATIONAL-LOUIS UNIVERSITY (NLU) offers students who complete an Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), the opportunity to complete a Bachelor of Science degree in Management (BSM) with full recognition of the Associate degree earned, except for degree programs in which more than 60 QH of technical credit is required. All required courses in the A. A., A.S. or A.A.S. degree will apply to the Bachelor’s degree. Students who do not complete the A.A., A.S. or A.A.S. degree will have all previous college work evaluated on a course-by-course basis.

UNIVERSITY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Application for admission
  • Application fee (non-refundable)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale on all previous coursework.
  • At least three years of work experience.
  • A current resume.

PROGRAM REGISTRATION REQUIREMENT

  • Completion of a minimum of 60 SH (90 QH) is required to begin the BSM major.

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENT

  • A writing assessment will be administered at the time of initial enrollment in the BSM major. This assessment is used for advising purposes.
  • Prior to enrollment at National-Louis, all students are required to complete the FastForward Orientation program.  This orientation program provides students with an overview of NLU's academic requirements as well as expectations of our students.  As part of FastForward, students must complete a writing assessment.  The writing assessment allows students to identify their strengths and weaknesses in regards to writing and allows NLU to help any student needing extra assistance with writing.  A FastForward Orientation session will be presented to students either on-site at Harper College or in an online format. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN MANAGEMENT: 180 QH (120 SH)

  • Students must complete a total of 180 quarter hours consisting of General Education, Management core, and Electives.
  • Fourty-five quarter hours must be taken at National-Louis University to fulfill NLU residency requirement.

General Education: 60 QH (40 SH)

Additional General Education courses to equal 60 QH

Management Major: 51 QH (34 SH)

All courses in the BSM Program must be completed at NLU. No courses are permitted to be transferred into the major.

Additional college level courses are required to reach the minimum of 180 QH.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS 

To graduate with a bachelor’s degree from National-Louis University, all students must successfully complete a minimum of 180 QH (120 SH) consisting of courses in general education, the program major, electives and any additional program requirements.
