The U.S. Postal Service rates changed on May 12, 2008. The rates are based on "Shape-Based Pricing".
General rules of thumb:
If possible, fold the material and use a standard #10 business envelope.
Use a 6 x 9 envelope (boxes available at the Copy Centers). This size, when thinner than 1/4", will qualify as First Class envelope, which costs less than a large envelope.
Large envelopes known as "flats" will cost more because they do not process as easily though the USPS system. Flats that are thicker than 1/4 inch will definitely cost more.
New equipment was installed for processing the mail. This affects how the mail is processed on all Chicagoland campuses. Some of the older units will be completely eliminated. Mail processing will be consolidated in order to use more efficient equipment.
A new accounting system will require re-designed forms for all mail.
A Postage Request Form will be personalized for each staff member with his or her name, department name, fund/org number, and barcode. This will be used by the Mail Centers to process the mail. Any old forms should be destroyed. For information, click on the forms button below.
If you received a personalized form that is incorrect or needs to be updated, or if you are responsible for mail from multiple fund/org accounts, or if someone is no longer at NLU, please click on the button below to update the information.
We will also be implementing UPS CampusShip for Chicagoland packages. (Please click below for information.)
Inter-Campus Delivery Schedule
A revised schedule for Inter-Campus Delivery began on Feb. 19, 2007. Click on the button to see the schedule.
Card Reader System
NLU uses the Monitor card system to operate the copiers. The Monitor card readers are not Océ equipment, but we work with NLU and the system provider and will be able to answer questions as they arise. The units are easy to use.
Faculty and staff receive a photo ID card with the proper coding for the system.
Adjunct faculty receive their adjunct cards separately from their Dean’s office at the beginning of each term. For replenishment, please contact your respective Dean's office or administrative assistant. The Copy Centers cannot replenish adjunct cards.
Students can obtain a copy card from the dispenser located on each campus. This card will allow them to make copies by using the Danyl card reader in the Chicago, Elgin, Lisle, North Shore, and Wheeling libraries.
Color copies
We now have a connection for producing color copiers through our corporate parent, Océ, which manufactures color copiers.
Color copies can be produced economically, off-site. We have to allow about a week for production and returning the project to NLU.
Please contact the Lisle Copy / Mail Center for information: ext. 4393 or Copycenter.Lisle@nl.edu.
Main Copy Center
The Main Copy Center for NLU is located on the Lisle campus. If you have any questions, please contact us at: Copycenter.Lisle@nl.edu
