Asian Heritage Month Celebration Luncheon 2008

 

The Asian Heritage Month Celebration Luncheon 2008 was held on May 12, 2008. That day's program included a Currency Display and a Chinese Currency Slide Show, a Green Display, awards presentations, entertainment and a door prize drawing.  The prizes were donated by the Tai Pei Economic and Cultural office, and the Chinese Club of NLU.   

 

The event was successful, so we would like to share with you a few remarkable pictures that show highlights (see bottom of this page).

Awards Presentations

 

The Chinese Club’s Outstanding Academic and Alumni Scholarship awards are given based upon GPA.  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 in order to receive this achievement award.  Similarly, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher for receiving the Alumni Scholarship award.

Ms. Teri Ferentz presented the Chinese Club Alumni Scholarship awards to the following four students.  Each student received a $150.00 scholarship and an award certificate.

• Joann Chan
• Ho Yan Chan
• Jian Hong Li
• Olha Omelyukh

Three students met the Chinese Club outstanding achievement standards.  Each awardee received a $100 Barnes and Noble gift card for NLU text books and an award certificate from the Chinese Club. Ms. Judith Kent presented the awards to the following three awardees:

1. Joann Chan
2. Jian Hong Li
3. Olha Omelyukh

 

 

Also, our club members and officers were recognized by the Chinese Club for their hard work in organizing and participating in all the activities for the last several years.

Dr. Kristin Lems, professor in the College of Education,  presented the Chinese Club appreciation awards to the following Chinese Club officers.

A note of appreciation!

Our club thanks Ms. Terri Ferentz for presenting the Alumni scholarship award to the students, Ms. Judy Kent for presenting the achievement award to the students, and Dr. Lems for presenting the appreciation award to our club officers.

Also, thanks to Ms. Judy Kent, and Ms. Pauline Wong for drawing the raffle tickets.  We also want to thank Dr. Kristin Lems for performing the beautiful songs, and our friends from the Green Committee for providing all materials for the Green Display.

Of course, we are grateful to all participants for joining us to celebrate the Asian Heritage Month.
