Who We Are-the Local Campus
The opening of National-Louis University's Wheeling Campus in January 1994 marked a record growth year and strengthened the University's commitment to making higher education attainable for working adults.
No stranger to Chicago's northwest suburbs, National-Louis University had served Wheeling and surrounding communities for many years by offering courses at rented facilities. The Wheeling Campus maintains offices and classrooms at 1000 Capitol Drive, Wheeling, Illinois, a permanent site located near the intersection of Palatine and Wolf Roads, are easily accessible to busy adults who live and work in northwest Cook County.
The University's Wheeling Campus currently offers graduate courses, the Master of Education in Interdisciplinary Studies in Curriculum and Instruction and the Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from National College of Education, the accelerated Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Management degree programs from the College of Management and Business, and the Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Leadership degree program from the College of Arts and Sciences. Additional course offerings are planned with the growth of the Wheeling Campus.
General Studies courses are available for undergraduate students with low transfer credit hours through a system of courses known as the FOCUS system (Focus on Completing Undergraduate Studies). The Wheeling Campus is home to the Office of Continuing Education and Outreach. This unit offers specialized courses and workshops for special interest groups, organizes travel/study opportunities, and oversees the University Internet course offerings.
Who Our Students Are
During the 2002-03 academic year, 1515 students attended the Wheeling Campus-282 undergraduate and 1233 graduate students. Women (1111) accounted for 73 % of the students; men (404) accounted for 27 %. NLU students reflect the ethnic diversity of the area.
A total of 270 faculty-49 full-time and 221 adjunct- support the academic programs and the student body at the Wheeling Campus. The average class size is 15.
Numerous centralized administrative offices are housed at the Wheeling Campus. The University employs 140 administrators and staff at Wheeling in support of the local students and faculty and the students and faculty universitywide.
The Wheeling Campus occupies 92,000 sq. ft. in a modern three-story office building and houses administrative and faculty offices and 16 teaching stations-including 10 classrooms, 3 conference rooms, 2 computer labs and 1 interactive video room. Computer access to the NLU library system is available on campus or via Internet. |
