- National-Louis University (Chicago)/AUSL: $2,954,312.64
- The National College of Education at NLU and the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) together developed the country’s first and, today, one of its most successful, urban teacher residency programs.
- The foundation of the NLU/AUSL partnership is an unequivocal commitment to shared responsibility and accountability for improving the quality of education for students in the Chicago Public School system.
- The National College of Education’s Institute for Urban Education at NLU and the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) are committed to the following:
- Expand the urban teacher residency program to provide more well-trained teachers for the highest-need schools in the Chicago Public School (CPS) System
- Improve teacher preparation through a consistent use of student achievement data
- Initiate new programs for the professional development of principals and teacher leaders
- Enroll more highly qualified and diverse residency candidates in high-need subject areas
- Expand the network of partners who can provide high quality school-based services to CPS students
- The grant is the largest ever received by the National College of Education at NLU.
- More than 87% of the 278 NLU/AUSL graduates who have taught in Chicago Public Schools were still in CPS after 3 years.
