NLU's Chicago campus on South Michigan Avenue occupies five floors of the historic Peoples Gas Building. This landmark building, across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago and Grant Park, is easily accessible by train, bus and car and is surrounded by restaurants, parking lots/garages and shops. Computer Access:

The campus offers free wireless internet access with no restrictions so passwords or downloads are not needed. In addition, a walk-in computer lab will be available for conference participants to check email, for internet access, and to work.

By Plane: O'Hare Airport International Airport

By Train: Amtrak Union Station

By Bus: Greyhound Bus Terminal

Located at 630 W Harrison Street, Chicago, IL 60607. The Greyhound bus terminal is close to HI-Chicago, but it is a long walk of 11 city blocks. If you are traveling in a group of two or three we recommend that you use a taxi because it will take you directly to the hostel door for a little more than the cost of the bus. Located in the center of downtown Chicago, Hostelling International is a 500 bed hostel, rated as BEST large hostel worldwide based on online customer reviews in 2006 and 2007.

Guests enjoy safe, clean accommodations at $32 per person per night in a shared dorm room. These dorm rooms are used by a local college during the school year and rented out through HI-Chicago during the summer months.

Cost - $32 per night plus tax

Payment - Payment is due upon arrival. HI-Chicago accepts cash, Visa and MasterCard.

Reservations - All reservations must be made by April 15, 2009. Reservations are to be made by the individual by contacting the hostel's group reservations department. Participants must indicate they are with the AERC - Adult Education Research Conference to obtain the special rate of $32 per night.

The beds will be held with a 60-day release. Cancellations must be received at least 48 hours in advance of arrival date. For no-shows or cancellations within 48 hours of arrival, guest is subject to forfeiture of 1st night's stay's cost.
