Every student situation is unique. Many come to us with work and life experience, others have prior college credit but may need to refresh their basic skills. This individuality and diversity are what make the NLU student body so dynamic.
If you don't have the minimum of credits and/or general education requirements needed to enter one of our programs, NLU offers these options:
- CLEP (College-Level Examination Program)
- DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs)
- Portfolios of prior work and life experiences for credit
- FOCUS (Focus On Completing Undergraduate Studies)
Certain programs at National-Louis University award credit to students who have achieved acceptable scores on the Advanced Placement (AP), the American College Testing Program (ACT-PEP), the College Board's College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs). If you need to schedule a DANTES exam, you may take the exam at one of our locations.
If you still need general education courses, we also offer our FOCUS program with a wide range of courses in English, Science, Math and Humanities. FOCUS classes are offered in an accelerated format and conveniently meet only one night a week. With FOCUS, you can earn the general education requirements, general education electives and free electives needed for NLU’s degree-completion programs.
