PHI DELTA KAPPA AT NLU

Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) is a professional organization for educators with chapters on colleges and university campuses worldwide. Its mission is the support of public education through leadership, service and research. The National College of Education chapter has been in existence for over 25 years. It provides at least six programs a year covering a wide range of topics. Programs have included the following topics: differentiating instruction, Blue Ribbon schools, international education, storytelling in the classroom, the impact of brain research on education, technology workshops, etc. The chapter also co-sponsors the Betty Weeks Storytelling Conference for Educators and supports service and research projects such as book collections for children and the Family Literacy Project. PDK members receive the highly regarded journal Phi Delta Kappan, as well as other publications. A scholarship is awarded yearly and a deserving individual is chosen to be Educator of the Year.

PDK is looking for people who have established themselves in their education community or who wish to provide service to their profession. If you or a colleague fit this description, and are involved in the field of education, then consider joining Phi Delta Kappa. To receive more information, contact Judi Friedman at 847-475-2027 or Lisa Mozer at 847-256-7879.
