Partnerships

To better serve our teacher candidates and schools where they receive their classroom experience, the National College of Education at National-Louis University has established school/district-university relationships and partnerships.  We invite you to join us in a collaborative, proactive, positive and ongoing relationship that is mutually beneficial.

Field Experiences for Teacher Candidates

We are proud of our commitment to preparing new teachers in 50 Illinois Counties at over 600 elementary, middle, and high school sites. We believe that school practitioners and university faculty have a mutual responsibility for preparing aspiring educators. Essential to professional preparation are quality field experiences.  We are always looking for exemplary clinical sites and master teachers who can support our students while completing their practicum and student teaching experiences.  If you are a district/school administrator or teacher who is interested in hosting a National-Louis student for a field experience, please contact Fred Chesek, Director of the Office of School-College Relations, 847.465.0575 ext.5564 or fchesek@nl.edu.

Current Partnerships

  • Global Student Teachers: A goal of the Office of School-College Relations is the placement of student teachers at diverse sites so that teacher candidates are exposed to many different sorts of learners.  We believe that we do not live in isolation.  Teachers should be prepared to serve students from around the world and be able to teach across the global community. In furthering this goal, we have partnered with the University of Minnesota in order to offer accepted candidates clinical placements in other countries.  We think international student teaching will impact our teacher candidates by:
    • Broadening their understanding while, at the same time, preparing them for teaching outside of their local community.
    • Providing them with skills, insights, and experiences that set our teacher candidates off from others for better employment opportunities.

If you are interested in learning more about fulfilling the student teaching requirement for NLU in another country, please contact Fred Chesek at (847) 947-5564 fchesek@nl.edu.
