What is LiveText?

LiveText is an Internet-based subscription service that allows students and professors to create, share, and collaborate on their work. Students can upload their work, align it to current standards, and share it with other students, appropriate instructors, and potential employers of their choosing. The initial component of this website being implemented at NLU is the "Electronic Portfolio."

For more information about LiveText and Student Assessments, please visit Student Assessments.

2. FREE CDs (compact disks) are available for students to help in learning how to use LiveText. The CD contains a series of instructional videos that demonstrate many of the functions of LiveText. Video sequencing instructions focusing on portfolio creation will be offered on the NLU website.
3. Videos and handouts explaining some aspects of LiveText are available at the NLU website.
4. Visit your campus for Walk-In Supports on specified dates and times.
5. Please remember: nothing substitutes for active use of the site. We are all encouraged to familiarize ourselves with the various features. As with many software programs, individual practice is expected.
6. After you have spent time on your own using LiveText, and you still are experiencing trouble, please call extension 3343 from any campus phone, or call 312-261-3343. Live support is available Sunday thru Thursday between 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Or you can call the LiveText Technical Support at (866) 548-3839. Live support is available Monday thru Friday between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

8. FOR STUDENTS WITH LITTLE OR NO COMPUTER EXPERIENCE, CAD will be offering "Basic" computer classes to help students become familiar with using a computer, accessing the Internet, and learning the basics of LiveText. An easy self-assessment will be given to students initially to help them identify their readiness for using computers. Half-day sessions will be offered to those who indicate a need for these classes. Follow-up assistance will be offered only for those who have availed themselves of the initial "Basic" class.
