Middle Level Master of Education (M.Ed) and Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS)
The Middle Level Education Programs are designed for teachers who want to obtain a Masters Degree or a Certificate of Advance Study with a specialty in middle level education. The goal of the program is to focus on the unique developmental characteristics of all young adolescents by creating a community of adults whose common and shared purpose is to provide educational success for all young adolescents as they prepare for productive adult lives.
Working with an NLU middle level faculty team, small intact groups of students move through the program together. Members of the faculty team work closely with middle school educational leaders, community agencies, young adolescents, and middle level specialists.
Students who took the middle level endorsement classes as undergraduates do not need to take the classes again, but they do need to take six hours of approved electives. These electives should enhance their content knowledge for teaching in their endorsed area of concentration.
