Illinois Infant - Toddler Credential

undefined

National-Louis University is among a select group of colleges and universities in Illinois that are recognized as entitled institutions by Gateways to Opportunity. Gateways is the statewide professional development network designed to support early childhood practitioners though credentials that recognize the knowledge and skills required at various levels throughout the early childhood career path. The Illinois Infant-Toddler Credential and the Illinois Director’s Credential validate individual’s specialized knowledge, skills, and experience in early care and education. The credentials are earned through accomplishments in general education, early childhood knowledge & skills, and field experience.

Illinois Infant Toddler Credential

The Infant Toddler Credential validates the specialized knowledge and skills and experience of practitioners who work with infants and toddlers. Research has shown that the most rapid brain development occurs from age 0-3. Increased education levels of practitioners who work with children at those ages have better outcomes for the children in their care. NLU students admitted into the BA in Early Childhood Practice program may work toward attainment of the Level V Infant Toddler Credential while fulfilling the requirements for the BA in Early Childhood Practice degree.

The Illinois Director Credential

The Illinois Director Credential is an indicator of high-level professional accomplishment. The Credential recognizes the management and leadership attributes of experienced early childhood program administrators and ensures the professional preparation of aspiring leaders. NLU students admitted into the Early Childhood Administration program may work toward attainment of the Level III Illinois Director Credential while fulfilling the requirements for either the Master of Education (M.Ed.) or Certificate of Advanced Studies (C.A.S.) degrees.
