• Dr. Leslie Curda and Dr. Kathy Sheridan presented at the Merlot International Conference in Minneapolis on August 8th, 2008. The presentation is titled Course Redesign: Creating Interactive Scenario and Case–Based Online Courses.
• A NLU New Orleans team of 14 NLU students and alumni /community members (former teachers) headed to new Orleans to assist the Kindergarten, 5th and 6th grade teachers of KIPP Central City Academy set-up up classrooms and develop lessons for the NOLA August 18 school opening. The team, led by the Early Childhood Education department’s own Karen Roth, left on Sunday, August 10 and returned Saturday, August 17. August 11 is the first time the teachers and administrators from the KIPP school were allowed into their newly and completely renovated NOPS building, which is located in the neighborhood known as the projects, near the Superdome.  There was much to do in the completely empty classrooms and central library and NLU team members were there to assist in this endeavor. • Dr. Leslie Curda and Dr. Kathy Sheridan will be presenting at the 14th Sloan-C Conference on Online Learning November 5th - 7th in Orlando. Their session is titled Manipulating Teacher Presence in Online Learning: The Impact on Learning Effectiveness.
• Dr. Teri Talin was appointed to a 3-year term to the NAEYC Council for Accreditation in August of 2008.
