Why NLU for Graduate Education

NLU has a long-standing reputation for its education and administrator training programs, and is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Since 1886, we’ve trained thousands of Chicago-area teachers and administrators, and continue to graduate the majority of Illinois’ Golden Apple Award winners — one of the most prestigious teacher honors in the state. Our instructors bring both academic skills and their extensive leadership experience to the classroom, which brings unique depth to NLU's Master of Education programs

What You Will Learn

  • How to develop supervision and staff development strategies
  • How to evaluate the financial and legal aspects of child care administration
  • How to conduct educational inquiry and assessment
  • A broad understanding of the impact family, community, students and schools have upon each other
  • A broad understanding of organizational theory, group dynamics and leadership applications

Career Outlook

Employment for early childhood administrators is projected to grow about 8 percent between 2008 and 2018. Job opportunities should be excellent due to a large number of expected retirements and fewer applicants.

NLU students are recognized by school principals as teachers who are comfortable in the classroom, can improve student performance and understand how schools are run.
