BA in Elementary Education (NCE) with a Science Major or a Science Concentration

For a degree in education with a science major or concentration from NCE, students need to fulfill all of the general education requirements for English, Mathematics, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Sciences, Art, and Theatre Arts. In addition they must complete the requirements outlined below.

NCE Science Major

The science major provides elementary education students with a broad foundation in the sciences.

Requirements for the Science Major are as follows:

  1. Completion of the general education science courses (18-20 quarter hours).
  2. Completion of 30 quarter hours of natural science coursework beyond general education.
  3. Twenty-five of these 30 hours must be upper level (300 or higher), and a minimum of 15 of the 25 quarter hours must be taken at NLU.

 

NCE Science Concentration

The science concentration provides elementary education students with a foundation in science.

Requirements for the concentration in Science are:

  1. Thirty quarter hours of natural science courses, in addition to general education courses, are needed for a minor (concentration) in biology.
  2. Of these 30 quarter hours, 15 must be upper level and taken at NLU
