ESL Workshops

The Department of Language Studies offers a series of four ESL workshops designed for individuals who work or plan to work with young adult and adult students whose native language is not English.  Participants who satisfactorily complete all four workshops for academic credit will receive certificates of completion.  The certificate does not meet the requirements for the Illinois ESL/ bilingual education approval for certified teachers. Workshops may be used as electives in a variety of NLU programs (such as the M.Ed. in ESL/BE). Please check with your advisor.

 

The ESL Workshops– Current Schedule – Chicago Campus

The ESL Practitioner Workshops will be held at the Chicago campus, 122 South Michigan Avenue, on Saturdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

Tuition for Each Workshop (subject to change) Graduate $289 Undergraduate $200 CEU (non-credit) $60   After final registration, students are required to pay a late registration Fee ($30)

Withdrawal from ESL Workshops

In order to officially withdraw from a workshop and obtain a refund, a student must do so in writing through the Registrar’s Office no later than the day before or the day following the workshop date.  Please contact the Registrar's Office at 312-261-3190 or see the 2007-2008 Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog for more information.
