FAQs for FOCUS Students

What is it like to be a FOCUS Student?

First, you must answer the question “Am I here to Learn?” If the answer is not “YES” do not enroll. FOCUS students are College students, they are expected to act as such. They attend their classes. They are punctual. They are prepared. They have assigned readings, papers and presentations which must be completed and turned in when due. They Learn!

Second, because FOCUS courses are offered in accelerated format, additional independent student diligence is required prior to and throughout the course.

Do I need an Academic Advisor signature to register?

Yes.  Effective November 6, 2006, Naitonal-Louis University has an Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (UAAC).

All students must obtain an advisor signature before they can be registered.

The UAAC phone number is 1-800-443-5522 ext. 5900.  The web site for complete information is http://www.nl.edu/advising/

How many class meetings can I miss?

Your instructor will provide detailed information on his or her individual attendance requirements.

How are classes graded?

The evaluation system emphasizes individual achievement and performance. Grades for completed courses are assigned following this scale: A = Outstanding performance; B = Above satisfactory performance ; C = Satisfactory performance; D = Marginal performance; F = Failing performance;  I = In Progress
