Payment Plan Options
This overview will provide you with general information regarding payment plans available to assist you in achieving your educational goals. Completion of a promissory note is required all options.. The promissory note can be completed at any Student Account Office or at the time of registration. NLU payment plans are calculated on a term basis.
Option 1: Full Payment Tuition Plan
If the student wishes to pay for the entire program (all terms) at the time of initial registration, the student will receive an 8% discount on the cost of the program.
Option 2: Deferred Tuition Payment Plan
Payment for each term is made in three equal installments. One-third of the term's tuition is due at registration, with the remaining two payments due thirty and sixty days from the first day of the term. There is a $25.00 handling fee to participate in this plan which is assessed with the first payment of each term. To determine the cost of the first payment, take the total tuition (plus room and board if you are living on campus), divide by three and add the $25.00 handling fee. This will be the amount of your first payment. You will be billed for the second and third payments during the term.
Option 3: Financial Aid
Financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships and loans is available to eligible students. Financial aid applications are to be completed at the time of registration in order to determine the amount of eligibility. Any amount not covered by awarded/estimated financial aid is to be paid at the time of registration. Option #2 can be utilized to pay tuition less financial aid. NOTE: Students must be formally admitted to be eligible for financial aid.
Option 4: Direct Billing to Employer/Agency
Under this plan, the employer/agency pays the University directly for all or a portion of the term's cost. Payment from the employer/agency or information regarding where to bill for the costs must accompany the student's registration and promissory note. Options 1,2 or 3 can be utilized to cover any amount not covered by the employer/agency.
Option 5: Tuition Reimbursement
Under this plan, a student can defer tuition paid directly to them by their employer through tuition reimbursement. The student is responsible for a minimum of 25% of term's tuition at the beginning of the term. This 25% can be paid through options 1, 2 or 3. The remaining 75% of the term's tuition is due 30 days after the posting of the term's grades. There is a handling fee of $25.00 per term to participate in this plan. A copy of the employer's reimbursement policy and the student's eligibility for reimbursement must accompany the signed promissory note.

Financial Aid Programs
Through its extensive financial aid program, National-Louis University offers financial aid to qualified students who wish to defray part of their total educational expenses. The University offers financial aid to students who have been admitted to the University. Types of aid include grants, scholarships, loans, and student employment. a student must be enrolled as at least a half-time (6 quarter hour minimum) degree-seeking student, and meet all federal, state, and instututional requirements to be elibigle for financial aid. All information on financial aid contained in this catalog is subject to changes or deletions without notification. For further details, please consult the Financial Aid Offices on the Evanston, Chicago, Wheaton, Wheeling campuses, or at any of academic centers. The program in which one enrolls may dictate the sources of aid for which an applicant is eligible.
The majority of aid sources begin with a need analysis document. This document performs several functions; it acts as an application for federal, state and institutional aid and is designed to evaluate the family's ability to contribute toward the student's educational expenses. Many factors are taken into consideration, the income and assets of the student and/or parent(s) being the most important. The University requires applicants to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FHFSA.) These forms are available from secondary schools, the Student Enrollment Office and the Financial Aid Office on each campus and at each center.
Once the expected family contribution has been established, it is subtracted from the cost of attending the institution; the difference represents the applicant's "need." It is the task of the Financial Aid Office to assist in meeting that need, using a number of different programs. These programs can be divided into two broad categories: gift aid and self help.
