I was born and raised in Chicago where the majority of my immediate family and many close friends still reside. I attended Eastern Illinois University after high school, with a double major in Health and Physical Education. I moved to Maine for several years, teaching and coaching as well as various other employment opportunities. Upon returning to the midwest, I also returned to EIU for a M.S. in Educational Psychology with an emphases in Community Counseling. I then spent ten years in the Wisconsin Technical College System, specifically at Gateway Technical College. My many positions included work in teaching, testing, counseling, curriculum, and administration. I have two wonderful children with my husband Thomas Flanagan, all of whom are very patient with me. While I have developed consulting services for education and career pathing, including speaking and special projects, I began work at NLU as Assistant Director For Student Affairs at the Milwaukee/Beloit Academic Center. I also remain active in the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and occasionally substitute at a high school. I try to exercise, read and travel, but to everything there is a season.
