Denise Frer grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She graduated from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Business Education. She began her teaching career at St. Scholastica High School, Chicago, and Ridgewood High School, Hardwood Heights. After living in New York and Champaign/Urbana, Illinois, she returned to the Chicago area with her husband to raise their four daughters. Denise returned to school and received and associate degree in architectural technology and began teaching Interior Design and opened a residential Interior Design firm. Denise was active in the American Society of Interior Design (ASID) as Education Chairperson for the Chicago Chapter. She completed Illinois state licensing in interior design, and passed the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) national examination. Denise received her advanced degree in adult education and continued teaching interior design and special courses in the Women's Program at Harper College. Denise taught adult literacy courses for Roosevelt University in their Partners in Corporate Education Program until she began her position as Project Director of Adult Education at Riverside Publishing.
