Self-directed Professional Growth

One big benefit of technology is that it can greatly enhance the process of just-in-time learning.  Looking for just the right resource for next week's lesson?  Want to know what the current research says about inclusion, learning styles, or how the brain processes information?  Electronic resources available via the Internet can help you find the answers to just about any question you can imagine.

Some great resources for teachers include

Just for Teachers - lesson plans, workshops, publications, and other resources from the U.S. Department of Education.

ITEP Resource Center - links to academic and professional resources.

Illinois Education Resource Council - links to publications, projects, reports, and related organizations.

International Education Journal - published four times a year; contains link to complete articles.

TCRecord.org - booked as "The Voice of Scholarship in Education," the Columbia University Teachers College site offers community discussion, book reviews, featured articles, and an online journal.
