Staff Council
Mission
The mission of the Staff council is to represent and promote the interests of the staff and serve as an active advisory group to the University Administration in areas that pertain to the welfare of the staff and matters that may benefit the University as a whole.
Staff Recognition Program
The objective of the program is to recognize and reward staff members for their contributions relative to the mission and goals of NLU. Nominations will be accepted for any of the following five categories:
- Service Excellence
- Enrollment/Retention
- Continued Improvement
- Innovation
- Diversity and Culture of Inclusion
Eligibility Criteria: All members of staff council, which includes all (non-faculty) positions up to and including Associate Directors. Nominations may be for individual and/or team contributions.
Nominations Process: Any member of the National-Louis University Community is eligible to nominate a staff member for recognition. This includes: faculty, administration, students (current or prospective), alumni, and staff. Nominations will be sent to The Office of Human Resources via intercampus mail, fax, or email: nominations@nl.edu. All nominees will be notified of their nomination via email.
Nominee information will be kept strictly confidential; anonymous information will be sent to the nomination review committee. The committee will consist of one supervisory staff member, one human resources member, two staff members, and one administrator. The process will be kept confidential to ensure that decisions are merit-based.

Lisle Campus Food Drive/Luncheon - 2011
The annual summer pot-luck luncheon/food drive was held on Wednesday, August 31st, on the Lisle campus. Dozens of non-perishable items were collected and donated to the Lisle Township food pantry. In addition to the food donations generous cash donations were also collected.
The next Lisle luncheon/food drive will be held in early December.
Elgin Campus - Annual Toy Drive
Each fall for the past four years, the Elgin campus has participated in the Elgin Community Toy Drive. Toy donations are accepted from November-December. In mid-December, volunteers from the various campuses are welcomed to assist with toy drop-off, set-up, and distribution. The Elgin campus donates at least 40 toys each year.
In addition to the toy drive, the Elgin Campus sells bottled water throughout the year and gives 100% of the proceeds to an Elgin charitable organization. Charities contributed to include the Anderson Animal Shelter, Little Angels, the Elgin Fall Shoe Drive and the Community Toy Drive. For more information, please contact Carita Giles, x8040

Wheeling Campus 2011 - Food and Clothing Drives
The Wheeling campus will hold a coat, hat, and glove drive in conjunction with WINGS. WINGS assists abused women and children by offering them a variety of services. The drive will run through Monday, October10th, ending on October 21st.
The Wheeling Campus will also be sponsoring a food drive to support in support of the Wheeling Food Pantry. The food drive will begin on November 7th ending on November 18th. For more information, please contact Alfreda Walton, x5350.
